Getting clear, readable scans helps our OCR extract data accurately. Follow these tips for better results.
1. Use good lighting
Avoid shadows and glare. Natural daylight or a bright, even light works best. Don’t scan in dim light or with the receipt partly in shadow.
2. Keep the receipt flat
Lay the receipt on a flat, contrasting surface. Hold your phone parallel to the receipt so the whole slip is in frame and in focus.
3. Fill the frame
Zoom or move closer so the receipt takes up most of the image. Less background and more receipt text improves OCR quality.
4. Steady your phone
Hold still or use a small stand when you tap capture. Blurry or shaky images lead to misread numbers and lines.
5. Check the preview
Before saving, make sure all text is legible. If not, rescan with better lighting or angle. ReceiptScan Manager makes it easy to retake.
